How do I install and set up the GTF Research Companion extension?

Install the Chrome extension and connect it to your Gather the Family account in minutes.

The GTF Research Companion is a Chrome browser extension that helps you capture genealogical data from any website.

Installation

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "GTF Research Companion" or use the direct link from gatherthefamily.com/extension
  2. Click "Add to Chrome"
  3. Click "Add extension" in the confirmation popup

First-time Setup

  1. Click the GTF icon in your browser toolbar to open the side panel
  2. Click "Sign In" and enter your Gather the Family credentials
  3. You're ready to start capturing!
Note: You need a free Gather the Family account to use the extension. If you don't have one, create it at gatherthefamily.com.
