What is a research target and how do I use it?

Keep key details about the person you're researching visible while you browse.

A research target is a quick reference to the person you're currently researching. It keeps their key details visible in the side panel while you browse.

Setting a Research Target

  1. Open the side panel
  2. Click the "Person" tab
  3. Click "Change" next to Research Target
  4. Search for and select a person from your tree

What You'll See

  • Name and birth/death years
  • Birth and death locations
  • Parents' names
  • Open research tasks for that person

Why Use a Research Target?

  • Quick reference without switching tabs
  • See what information you're still missing
  • Stay focused on one person during a research session
  • Easy access to their open tasks

You can change your research target anytime as you shift focus to different ancestors.
